I'm happy to report that after an entire decade as a graduate student (albeit part-time, while doing many other things as well), I have finally submitted my thesis and will be defending it on March 26. This means that I will finally have my PhD and will be allowed to wear long trousers. And possibly even get a permanent university position. For more verbose discussion, see my blog.
